Savings examples

FIRST SAVINGS EXAMPLE
If you invested $50 000 in an investment that had an initial fee of 5%, from which 4% was paid as a commission which could be rebated, you would save at least 4% of $50 000 (ie $2 000).  However, some investment managers reduce their initial fees if the commission is reduced. In these cases, using DIOA could save you a further 1% of the investment making a total saving of $2 500.

If your chosen investments do not allow rebating of commission, the initial commission must be paid to you through the DIOA trust account and savings are $100 less.

SECOND SAVINGS EXAMPLE
Say you had $210 000 to invest..

If you needed the prospectuses for two investments, DIOA would charge you $10 plus two times $5 to send the prospectuses to you.

If after reading all the prospectuses that you thought necessary, you chose to invest $30 000 in each of seven investments all paying commissions of 4% with all but two of the investments rebating initial commissions and three investments rebating managers’ initial fees of 1% in addition to the 4% commission.

The two investments not rebating commissions would result in DIOA’s trust account  being paid the commission and paying it to the investor.  Provided this occurred in the same month, a DIOA commission handling fee of $50 plus two times $50  or $150 would apply.

Total net savings would be:

           4% of $210 000 or    $ 8 400
plus     Rebates of managers’ initial fees 1% of three times $30 000    $    900
less     DIOA’s commission handling fee to $50 plus 2 times $50    $    150
less     DIOA’s prospectus fees    $      20
   ______
gives    Total savings of    $ 9 130
